Appreciating the moment

I didn’t think I would say this, but time seems to be flying for me. The sunshine is definitely helping, I’m a real summer person and love being in the fresh air and I’m lucky to have a garden. I have started learning how to TikTok, it’s not as easy as it looks, 20 takes before the pre-teen gave me the green light to post it. I’m really proud to have my daughter’s seal of approval since she spends most of her spare time dancing. The teenager is a mad sports enthusiast. That’s when he’s not eating, Xboxing (if that’s a word), Snapchatting (definitely not a word), Housepartying or sleeping – in that order! I know my son will really miss Wimbledon this year, the players are a true inspiration to him. Luckily, he can swap the usual courts for grass since we have a mobile tennis net at home for him to enjoy. Whilst on the subject of sport, and I know this won’t be popular, I’m personally enjoying the lack of watching of football – sorry football fans! The house is now a haven of tranquillity without the incessant football “noise” as I call it!

Work has felt a little calmer and more positive this week. I finally got stuck into a candidate end employee insights project which I just haven’t had time to do or possibly was avoiding before now. I’ve never been great at starting large tasks but once I get going, I really enjoy seeing the results. The conversations I have had with candidates and clients have been thought provoking, humorous and enjoyable. I look forward to continuing with this into next week. It’s fascinating hearing people’s opinions as well as views changing during this time. Balance and appreciation are topics which are coming up time and time again. There is a keenness from everyone I have spoken with to make use of what we are learning during this time. I watched an interesting interview between an Estate Agent and Mortgage Advisor this week. Interestingly the word “pause” came up which I have heard a lot recently. Their advice was for people to get everything lined up and ready to go for when the market opens up again. Whatever industry you are in, I agree with this sentiment. Use your time wisely, stay current, read up on areas you usually don’t have time for to gain deeper knowledge, seek out training, upskill, or if you’re working, offer your abilities elsewhere in the business, it will be remembered and you will be ahead of the curve when we can move again.

And lastly, I moved office this week….at home, of course, and into the garden. I won’t be able to do this when we’re back to normality, so I want to make the most of it. The birds are singing, and I can hear the distant noise of other families, making me feel part of the real world. I would love to say it’s peaceful, but then….the pre-teen and teenager fight, the husband wants a chat – he’s having a 2 minute break from work, but I have to remember that I’m not out here to appreciate the peace, it’s about making the most of the moment.
